These Chubby Hubby Clusters are the perfect combo of flavors. These little clusters were something that I threw together because I needed one more treat to put on the neighbor’s goodie plates.

Our sister Elyse made these Chubby Hubby Truffles a couple of years ago, so I took her basic idea and made it into a no-bake candy cluster. If you like chocolate, peanut butter, and pretzels all mixed together, then these are for you.

Why are they called “Chubby Hubby”?

If the name doesn’t get you, the flavors will! The name Chubby Hubby came from Ben and Jerry’s Ice cream almost 30 years ago.

The flavor combination of pretzels, peanut butter, fudge, and delicious vanilla ice cream brought to life the now famous Chubby Hubby Ice Cream!

We took all of those same delicious flavors and put them into a delicious cluster that can be made in just a matter of minutes. Husbands tend to eat their fair share of these, and for a good reason!

How to Make Chubby Hubby Clusters in the Microwave

Sometimes making candy can seem a little intimidating. Hitting those perfect boiling temperatures and watching your food thermometers can get a little old.

We love these Chubby Hubby Clusters because they can be made in the microwave! Don’t believe us? Here’s how you do it:

  1. In a large microwavable bowl, mix together chocolate chips, peanut butter chips, butter, and peanut butter.
  2. Microwave on high for 45 seconds, stir, and microwave again for 30 seconds.
  3. Stir until your mixture is smooth. If it isn’t completely melted, return to the microwave for 20 second intervals, stirring after each time.
  4. Add pretzels and peanuts to the melted chocolate mixture and stir until they are completely coated in chocolate.
  5. Drop by tablespoonfuls onto wax paper and refrigerate for about 30 minutes or until firm.

  1. michelle says:

Great recipe, but I doubled it and only got 30 little stacks. Maybe I could have broken the pretzels into smaller pieces, but I don't think I could get 30 stacks out of the recipe as is.

  2. Cathy says:

I'm not a peanut butter fan. Is there something else that can hold these together besides peanut butter?

  3. Suzi says:

Two thumbs up! I made these for a work holiday cookie swap! So incredibly easy and took hardly any time to make! I had to make extra for the hubby and kids of course!

  4. Brenda McCracken says:

Almond butter or cashew butter would work probably. You can also replace the nuts accordingly and use almonds or cashews if you don't care for peanuts. I just found this recipe shared on Facebook. I think I will try different varieties.

  5. Sandy says:

Super easy and delicious. A tablespoon was the perfect size and made plenty. Now to hide them from my hubby so others get some too!

  6. Mama Schick says:

I love these! I used Glutino Gluten free pretzels in place of regular and TA-DUM yummy easy GF dessert! Thank you for sharing this recipe. I doubled it and it made roughly 60 - as expected.

  7. Char Aaron says:

They look fabulous..I gained 2 lbs just looking at the picture but I wonder if you could tell me how to make them....well wedont own a microwave

  8. Kathe says:

Yummy is all I have to say!

  9. linda philley says:

you can do these in a crock pot(trisha yearwood crock pot candy) just put peanuts and pretzels instead of just peanuts and then peanut butter chips then german chocolate squares (or not)then chocolate chips then almond bark cook on low 3 hrs then stir and scoop out on foil

  10. Cheryl says:

Just wondering if anyone may have added raisins to these? What do you think?

  11. Jeannie says:

These were great! Perfect combination of the ingredients. Will definitely make again.

  12. Sue says:

    Do these freeze well?

  13. Cyd says:

They don't need to be frozen. Just place them in an airtight container and put in the fridge. They should last for a month or two.

  14. Linda Jung says:

WE ALWAYS ADDED MIMI MARSHMALLOWS TOO! EVERYONE LOVED THEM! THANKS!

  15. Denise G says:

This was super easy and super tasty!!

  16. Linda says:

Can the chubby hubby candies be frozen?

  17. Momma Cyd says:

    Yes, in an airtight container.

  18. Angela says:

Does the peanut butter on top harden?

  19. Angela says:

I am wondering about that too.

  20. Kim T says:

They look delicious! Would they stick to muffin paper if you used a mini muffin tin?

  21. Momma Cyd says:

They should come out of the muffin paper like a chocolate would.

  22. GrumpyG says:

What could I use in place oh peanut butter chips?

  23. Momma Cyd says:

    Butterscotch chips might work too.

  24. Leni L says:

These are delicious but I can never get them to set up right! I’ve tried tweaking the recipe to replace butter with coconut oil or even omit the peanut butter and just use the pb chips, but every time they stay tacky and melty. As soon as you touch them they start to melt! What can I do to get these to really set without keeping them in the fridge the whole time?

  25. Momma Cyd says:

I would say try cutting back on the butter and see if that helps them set up better.

  26. Christa says:

So delicious...tastes like a salted fudge candy bar! These will not last long at my house! Next time I will add a few more pretzels because I love the salt they bring to the recipe.
